How do I import a PowerPoint? Follow
Transform your existing PowerPoint presentations into engaging and interactive learning experiences with the PowerPoint import wizard - a tool designed to guide you every step of the way!
Importing into a new course
To begin, create a new course and choose the PowerPoint import option.
Next, select your PowerPoint content, add the course name and description, and press "Next."
By automating many of the preliminary setup tasks, the PowerPoint import wizard significantly reduces the time and effort typically associated with new course development.
The wizard will lead you through a series of initial decisions that lay the foundation for your new project. Each PowerPoint slide is imported as a separate screen.
Choose a theme, then select "Create" to build your new course.
Importing into Existing Courses
You can import PowerPoint files into an existing Gomo course via the Actions tab in the course tree view. The imported content will appear as a new topic, which you can then edit and link into the rest of your course structure.
PowerPoint Import – Top Tips & Troubleshooting
Your PowerPoint content needs to meet the following requirements:
- File format: PowerPoint 2007 or later (.pptx files only)
- Maximum file size: 100 Mb
- Maximum number of slides: 100 slides
- Supported image formats: jpeg, jpg, png, gif
- Maximum individual image size: 10Mb
- Supported video formats: mp4, mov, mpg, mpeg, avi, m4v
- Supported audio formats: mp3, au, wav, m4a
Videos from Google Slides
If your PowerPoint file was originally exported from Google Slides, any videos included will not be embedded as media files. As a result, these videos won’t be imported into your Gomo course.
Top Tip: To ensure videos are imported properly, embed them directly into the PowerPoint file before importing to Gomo.
Content Import Order
Gomo imports content based on the timestamp of when each item was added in PowerPoint rather than the order it appears in the slides.
If you add a text box first and then add an image later (even if the image appears visually above the text), Gomo will import the image before the text.
Speaker Notes
Speaker notes from PowerPoint are imported into Gomo as text assets, and they will appear in the published course unless adjusted.
Top Tip: If you want to keep speaker notes for internal reference only (and not publish them), copy them into the Developer Notes field in Gomo after import.
Background Images
Background images in a PowerPoint file are imported as standard image assets in Gomo.
Top Tip: To make an image a true background:
- Copy the image path from the Gomo Editor.
- Paste it into the Screen Background field in Gomo.
- Delete the original image asset from the content area.
